Me and my kids are very into a the game of associations. I’ll say a word and they’ll answer a word that makes them think of the one I had said. Sometimes, they’ll need more clues. I’ll say more adjectives to better describe the word I had first chosen.

If I were to play this game about Meritt & Sarah with those who know them, my first word would be: gentle. If their friends and family didn’t immediately say their names, I’d follow up with: loving, Christ-centered, and honorable.

Meritt & Sarah, as you embark on this next chapter in life (in many ways) I love that those whom you encounter will be shown: gentleness, love, honor, and ultimately, Christ. I know that’s your greater desire. Be encouraged that I believe it’s not just the associations I think when picturing you, but many who are in (and yet to be) your life. May those roots continue to grow deep within your marriage, within your family, friendships, and the various paths that God has for your future.
