CHICAGO ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER: MELISSA MARIE PHOTOGRAPHY: ADAM + AVERY

I got a text from the bride-to-be with a photo: "My mom got married here. I would love to do engagement pictures in the same spot." Her mom's alumna status was the golden ticket (along with contracts, permits, and money) we needed to photograph at Dominican University. I photographed here a few times, but it's rare to gain access to it. Rare enough that despite it being 30F and raining, we still went through with it to not lose our opportunity. I actually like photographing in tricky conditions. Don't get me wrong, my bones were still cold hours later when I crawled into bed, but it forces me to see through a different set of lenses. Makes me think outside the box. It's kinda like the show "Chopped" but for photos. (: I have rain...I have frost...I have a super fun couple that's totally willing to roll with whatever I give em....Ok. What to do? What to make of it. I love it turned out. And even more so, I love that there's now a bit of a tradition/legacy within their family having parts of their wedding in exact same spot!
